How Do You Organize Your Coupons? The Many Options of Coupon Organizers

Do you have that reoccurring nightmare? You’re shopping and find a great deal, but you have one problem. You don’t know where the coupon is for the item on sale. You know somewhere that coupon exists, is it in the back of a kitchen drawer, being used as a bookmark, bottom of your purse or maybe the floor in your car? That coupon makes this item free! This nightmare probably happens everyday and maybe it has even happened to you. I know it has happened to me. Get those coupons organized!

Getting organized doesn’t have to take a long time. Some people cut out every coupon that they come across, while others leave the inserts from the Sunday paper together and put them into a folder. There is no correct way to do, only your preference.

Coupon Mom suggests that you keep your Sunday inserts intact and put them into an accordion folder, shoe box, whatever works for you. When you search online for coupon matchups with your local ads, many reference which insert the coupon was in and the date of that insert (inserts are regional). This makes finding the coupon very easy, just remember to write the date of the insert on the front cover where you can see it well. If you forget to do that, it is printed very small along the binding.

Another option is to cut out all the coupons you receive or that come in the paper and organize them in a binder or accordion organizer (these can be found at most dollar stores). Make sure you organize your coupons so that you can find them easy. I organize mine based on where I find them in the store, ex. health and beauty, refrigerator, freezer, etc. There are other ways to organize them too, ex. meat, dairy, grains, baking, etc. You need to choose what works best for you. To use a binder, all you need is a large binder, dividers, baseball card pages and currency pages (for the bigger coupons).

Some stores offer electronic coupons that you can load onto your store loyalty card or cell phone. If you don’t have time to clip coupons, check out this option. Check out sites like, upromise, cellfire and Target. Although you won’t save as much as someone that is clipping coupons, you will still save money.

Some people use index card boxes with dividers, bank bags with dividers, multiple plastic baggies separating coupons into different groups, a small photo album, multiple envelopes for different groups of coupons, CD holder, photo box, pencil pouches. There are many options out there, you just have to dream it up.
The most important thing for organizing coupons is, do what works for you!

How do you organize your coupons or what method are you going to try?
